A big success - Sortimo and Mercedes-Benz extend "Electromobility in the Trade" project

Since August, Sortimo and Mercedes-Benz Vans have been offering interested trade businesses in the region the opportunity to test battery-electric powered eVito panel vans in a joint project. The vehicles are equipped with a high-quality Sortimo SR5 racking system, which is now also available as Mercedes-Benz VanSolution directly from the factory for the Vito or eVito.

Craftsmen and women are faced with major challenges when it comes to optimising their company mobility and their own vehicle fleet. A smooth, efficient workflow as well as a fast journey to the construction site are part of the business model of every successful crafts enterprise. After all, time is money, but climate change and the expected restrictions on mobility in inner cities require a rethinking of tried and tested structures. Businesses need to be prepared for this and look into low-emission drive technology. Sortimo and the trade have always gone hand in hand when it comes to efficiency, productivity and customer-oriented work. The market leader for mobile transport solutions also wants to support its customers in the best possible way when it comes to electric mobility.
Since this summer, craft businesses have therefore had the opportunity to test an eVito provided by Mercedes-Benz Automotive Mobility including SR5 in-vehicle equipment from Sortimo at unbeatable conditions at the Sortimo Innovation Park in Zusmarshausen. For a period of up to two weeks, interested customers pay a one-off fee of 56 euros per week (plus VAT).
"The feedback from our customers is overwhelming. The capacities are exhausted to the maximum. Together with Mercedes-Benz, we have therefore decided to extend the project until next spring in order to be able to convince even more companies of electric mobility," emphasises Thomas Unger, Head of Marketing & Sales at Sortimo. "We are very pleased that the project has been so well received so far. For us as Mercedes-Benz Vans, electric mobility is the central technology of the future with very great potential for the trade as well. Together with our VanSolution partner Sortimo, we are bringing the SR5 VanSolution for the eVito directly to the businesses ex works, making it easy to get started with sustainable mobility," explains Sven Dannenmann, Head of Sector and Bodybuilder Centre Mercedes-Benz Vans.

Sortimo SR5 in-vehicle equipment now also available as a VanSolution solution

The eVito will be equipped by Sortimo with the SR5 racking system, which is now available from Mercedes-Benz as a VanSolution ex works. The SR5 in-vehicle equipment from Sortimo offers maximum use of cargo space and the best possible overview in the vehicle thanks to various organisational elements. The Sortimo EcoSystem ensures that the racks are compatible with all common tool boxes and the practical ProClick tool bag system. SR5 can be extended with individual accessories. The load compartment is clad to protect the bodywork and thus preserve its value. In addition, the load floor is already equipped with connection points, which enable cost-effective installation of the standard or advanced options of the SR5 racks.

The Mercedes-Benz eVito panel van: perfect for trade and commerce

The locally emission-free van was successfully launched on the market in 2018 and, as a panel van, received a comprehensive update of the electric drivetrain (eATS) and a new battery with a usable capacity of 60 kWh at the end of last year. With a range of 242-314 kilometres and fast charging as standard, the van appeals to a wide range of users in commercial goods transport.

The eVito is available in two lengths and with a load volume of up to 6.6 m³.

In order to charge its battery even while driving using an intelligent operating strategy, the eVito panel van offers various recuperation levels. The DAUTO recuperation level enables a particularly efficient and comfortable driving style. According to the maxim "drive with foresight and save energy", information is networked and the strength of the recuperation is adjusted situation-specifically and in real time. In addition, three driving programmes help the customer to choose individually and at the touch of a button between maximum comfort and maximum range during the journey. For customers who need more space or loading space, Mercedes-Benz Vans also has a suitable vehicle in its portfolio in the form of the eSprinter.
