FR5 – The flexible folding rack

Sortimo International GmbH, market leader in the supply of van racking and intelligent mobility solutions, has introduced a new racking system – the FR5, which has been designed especially for the requirements of the CEP sector and which offers couriers as well as parcel services the highest level of flexibility with the greatest possible safety in day-to-day working. Developed on the component basis of the SR5 modular system, the FR5 offers the great benefit of integrating SR-BOXXes where the racking system also provides added utilisation for tradesmen and service technicians. The FR5 is available immediately from Sortimo branches and stations.

With the FR5, Sortimo International GmbH has introduced a new solution for the CEP sector onto the market, the development of which included precise analysis of the sector requirements and where the synergy of components from the SR5 modules allowed them to be fulfilled in an optimum way. The new SR5 alu-side panels and intermediate profiles are also used in the FR5, where the shelf is incorporated perfectly in the Sortimo system world, offering the user clear added values.

The FR5 was developed on the basis of experience gained from its predecessor, the FlexRack, and has lots of opportunities in store for package delivery services and couriers that not only accelerate professional activities, but also make them easier on a long-term basis, and day-to-day working safer. In order to provide maximum flexibility and exploitation of stowage space, both the shelves and the side profiles can be adjusted to suit the individual vehicle, thus providing maximum freedom of movement. The shelves are easily accessible and guarantee rapid access to the packages. In addition, the simple and intuitive operation is particularly practical: the shelves can be folded upwards very easily using just one hand and lock in place automatically. 

The combination of aluminium and steel makes the FR5 extremely sturdy and permits a payload of 100 kg per shelf. The border-free shelf GripMaxx, developed specially for the new racking system, has an 

integrated non-slip edge, thanks to which the packages can be transported safely and also be removed quickly from the shelf as a result of the direct access.

Alongside quick loading and unloading, the transported goods can also be secured quickly, easily and reliably using the integrated Sortimo ProSafe load securing system, thus minimising the risk of damage. 

The tried and tested SR5 options are also available for the FR5 shelves – without border, with border height 2 (34 mm) and with border height 4 (68 mm). They can also be enhanced by subdividing individually with dividers, equipping with BOXXes for small components, and using anti-rattle mats to prevent the cargo from moving.

mySortimo labels can also be used on the FR5 to provide an optimum overview in the cargo space. In this way, Sortimo offers their customers the opportunity of labelling the shelf components individually with adhesive labels and using colour codes.

FR5 also for tradesmen and service technicians 

Sortimo appeals not only to CEP sector customers with its FR5, but also to tradesmen and service technicians who, on the one hand, need a fully-fledged van racking system, and, on the other hand, regularly require a high loading capacity in their vehicle to transport large items. The FR5 now offers this target group a racking system which can be folded down if required to create free cargo space in the van for large items. The use of identical components means that an optically harmonious combination of FR5 and SR5 in the vehicle is also possible without any problems. The shelves can be equipped horizontally with Sortimo SR-BOXXes, cases and, hanging under the shelf or fixed onto it, with SR-BOXXes, whereby the racking system can be used for safe and orderly transport of tools, work materials and small components. If they are not being used, the shelves can be folded up easily in an instant, leaving the cargo space free for larger items. This allows the company vehicle to be reconfigured quickly at the weekend for the transport of bicycles and other leisure items.

ProPartition – partition wall with sliding door

Sortimo has the ProPartition in its product range specially for the CEP sector.This sturdy partition wall with sliding door allows the driver direct access to the cargo space from the cab. This reduces the walking distance of delivery, courier, express and a package delivery services, in particular, who are under time restraints, thus saving a large amount of time in day-to-day working.

In addition, the ProPartition allows the driver to exit the vehicle via the sliding door on the right-hand side, the side away from the traffic. The door threshold is very flat and is integrated in the floor, so that the ProPartition does not harbour any danger of tripping or bruising. The passage height is 1.80 metres and is equipped with edge protection.

For upgrading the vehicle with the ProPartition with sliding door we recommend replacing the passenger seat by a foldaway seat, including head restraint, on the one hand to make use of the full door width of 60 cm, and on the other hand, to be able to take along a passenger in the vehicle. This requirement is particularly important for new recruits, who are often accompanied by experienced colleagues during their induction phase. 

The quality and safety of the ProPartition with sliding door has been tested extensively by Sortimo and is certified in accordance with DIN ISO 27956 and ECE-R 14 / 16 / 17. In addition, the original lashing points in the vehicle are retained so that there are no forfeits created regarding load securing. Sortimo recommends equipping the vehicle, in the course of the conversion, with a professional load securing system in the form of floor and wall cladding, including lashing points, so that the cargo can be secured by the driver even more quickly. This is required particularly in the CEP sector since the load volume changes constantly during the working day, and flexible load securing facilities are of particular benefit.
